Colleagues at the Department of Physics are delighted to announce the launch of the Cavendish Big Science Colloquium Series, a new flagship Cavendish colloquium series designed to bring world-leading scientists to Cambridge across key research themes, including observational and theoretical cosmology, high-energy physics and fundamental interactions, particle astrophysics, large experiments and detector technologies, data-intensive science, and the design and exploitation of next-generation scientific infrastructure. The inaugural lecture will take place on Tuesday 4 March at 4:00pm (RDC auditorium) and will be given by Prof Heino Falcke (Radboud University), entitled “Imaging Black Holes from Ground and Space.” Prof. Falcke is a leading figure behind the Event Horizon Telescope and black-hole imaging efforts, and his talk will cover the scientific, technical, and future prospects of horizon-scale observations. All members of the Cambridge astronomy and astrophysics community are warmly encouraged to attend.
