Cosmology at Cambridge

From the outside, Cambridge can look a confusing place to apply to for cosmology since research in this area is conducted in three departments: DAMTP , Institute of Astronomy and Physics (Cavendish Laboratory). Students are affiliated with one of these, but there is a lot of interaction across departments facilitated by the KICC. Galaxies in the Infant Universe Were Surprisingly Mature

Massive galaxies were already much more mature in the early universe than previously expected. This was shown by an international team of astronomers—including researchers from the Kavli Institute for Cosmology (KICC) and the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) — who studied 118 distant galaxies with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA).
