Kavli Institute for Cosmology, Cambridge

I am a first year PhD student in Astronomy at the IoA and KICC, working with Will Handley at the intersection of cosmology, scientific computing and machine learning. My research focuses on improving our ability to extract information from CMB and galaxy survey datasets and making such analyses more efficient, using insights and techniques drawn from the ML community. This includes the use of GPUs for massive parallelisation and applying gradient-accelerated optimisation methods to Bayesian inference problems, enabling us to model the larger and more precise datasets that Euclid, Rubin and Simons will deliver, test more cosmologies, and ultimately do more science.
