Newton-Kavli Fellow Sunny Vagnozzi has been jointly awarded the “Alfredo di Braccio” Prize by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Lincean Academy), in recognition of his important contributions to the field at the intersection of Cosmology, Astrophysics and Particle Physics. This prize is awarded every year to a young Italian researcher in Physics or Chemistry (alternating between the two), in recognition of their excellence in research, with the award ceremony being held in the presence of the President of Italy.

The Lincean Academy is an Italian elite National Academy of Science and one of the oldest and most prestigious European scientific institutions, whose mission is to promote and spread scientific knowledge in its highest expression. Former illustrious members include Galileo Galilei, Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, Werner Heisenberg, Max Planck, and Louis Pasteur.  Previous notable winners of the Alfredo di Braccio prize in fields of interest to KICC include former DAMTP PhD graduate Michele Cicoli.
