KICC member and DAMTP Lecturer Dr Blake Sherwin has been awarded a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC), one of the most competitive types of grants for early career researchers in Europe.
The ERC-funded project 'CMBLENS' will develop a variety of novel methods to analyse the gravitational lensing of the cosmic microwave background, the relic light from the early universe. Applying these methods to the state-of-the-art Advanced ACTPol and Simons Observatory experiments, Dr Sherwin and his collaborators will pursue new insights into the masses of neutrinos, the time-evolution of dark energy and the physics of the very early universe.
