My PhD project investigates the hardening processes that lead to the merger of supermassive black holes (SMBHs). Utilizing the SMBH population in the cosmological simulation FABLE, I employ sub-resolution models to predict hardening timescales. Additionally, I explore the evolution of SMBH spins and masses throughout the merging process, seeking insights into the seeding mechanisms of SMBHs in the Universe.
