Research Interests

I am interested in understanding the interplay between the physical processes that regulate star formation on galactic scales, including inflows and outflows of gas, the effect of environment and active galactic nuclei. In particular, I focus on the study of chemical abundances, star formation and the ionised interstellar medium in nearby galaxies. I am an active member of SDSS-IV MaNGA (Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO), the largest current Integral Field Spectroscopy (IFS) survey to date, aiming at obtaining IFS observations of a representative sample of nearly 10,000 nearby galaxies with the Sloan telescope. I am also involved in projects aiming at making use of other IFS facilities (like VLT-MUSE) and complementary studies of the molecular component of the interstellar medium in galaxies using sub-mm telescopes (both single dish telescopes and ALMA).
